Unitarian Universalist Church, 130 Concklin Rd, Pomona NY   $10-15 to UUCR appreciated but not required

Releasing the stale energies of winter and “seeding” our intentions for the new season, we’ll enjoy time together with the transformational element of Fire. All are welcome! Please bring a drum or rattle if you have one, along with a vision for what good things you’d like to grow in your life. If you have trouble standing, please bring a folding chair.

We’ll also say a special blessing in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, to honor immigrants, our ancestors, and those who have left one home to put down roots in another.

Sunday April 11 — Guest Sermon

First Unitarian Society of Plainfield, NJ  10am

What we call grief here in the West is actually part a wide spectrum of experiences that includes bereavement, outrage, disappointment, and shame: often the feelings we try hardest to hide. By contrast, ancestral wisdom teaches us that grief is a vital energy in need of shared expression.  Whether our sadnesses are private or part of a collective outpouring, accepting and witnessing our tenderness can be a sacred practice, one that ultimately deepens our capacity for joy.  This Sunday, Mikki recounts what tribal elders have imparted about the nature and function of grief, and why it deserves to be honored.

Friday -Saturday April 27-28 — Solace: A healing retreat for all forms of grief

Unitarian Universalist Church, 130 Concklin Rd, Pomona NY   $135

Most of us feel some tenderness – or outrage, disappointment, or loneliness – just beneath the surface, but we “stiff upper lip” it without a safe space to express ourselves. Come join a community of warmth and heart for some ritual and advice-free conversation, and allow yourself to find some solace.
